April 22 Autocross Race
I was a bit disappointed
in my results... no excuses but I did have a half tank of
gas which weighed me down a bit. And my tires are getting
slightly worn. But again, no excuses.
I
took 2nd place in the A-Stock class... out of three. I was
up against a Honda S2000 which is a MUCH better handling
car. This was important on this course because the setup
was very tight with 4 hairpin turns and very short
straightaways. His high revving engine and tight handling
was perfectly suited for the course.
The
good news is the S2000 was driven by 2 drivers, I beat one
of them and lost to the other. We were within .8 seconds
from 1st to 3rd place. The guy that beat me won by about
.5 of a second, and I beat the other guy by .3 seconds.
The winner had a LOT of experience (like 7 years) but it
was the first time in this car. The other guy had raced
another car a "few times" but I think he had comparable
experience to me. Unfortunately, as he gets better (and I
get better), he'll probably start beating me since his car
is better suited to autocross.
